The need for effective rehabilitation (rehab) services is ever-increasing. At Golden State Recovery, our mission is anchored in meeting your needs and goals so that we can lay the groundwork for your lasting recovery, together. In aiding those who struggle with substance use, we not only seek to heal the physical toll these substances take but also focus on your psychological and social healing, ensuring that you are able to navigate your journey toward sobriety with hope and confidence.
What Is a Substance Use Disorder?
Substance use disorder is characterized by heavy and chronic use of psychoactive substances, like alcohol, stimulants, depressants, opioids, and other illicit drugs. Over time, these substances change the brain’s structure and functioning, leading to significant physical and psychological risks.
More specifically, substance use interferes with your day-to-day life and functioning, such as your daily responsibilities, studies/job, and relationships. Persistent use of alcohol or drugs can even lead to high-risk circumstances, like using substances in a way that jeopardizes your own and others’ safety or driving under the influence. Many may start off with alcohol or drugs as a way of experimentation or as recreational use, but it can become the pathway to substance misuse and dependence, where you will use these substances more frequently and for a longer period of time than you intend to.
The more you use them, the more you will feel the need to use them to achieve the desired effect. Unfortunately, abstaining from these substances becomes challenging as you develop a substance use disorder. Quitting them abruptly or going cold turkey can even lead to life-threatening conditions. Therefore, it is always crucial you reach out to licensed and trained mental health practitioners so that they can collaborate with you and craft a plan that gets to the bottom of your substance use and lays a strong foundation for your enduring recovery.

What Are the Substances We Treat?

- Alcohol Treatment: Our outpatient rehabilitation facility is equipped to handle alcohol use disorder, where we use medication-assisted treatment, holistic therapies, and social support to provide those recovering from alcoholism with personalized care.

Our team of licensed and trained mental health specialists is dedicated to meticulously and tirelessly paving the path for your sober, healthier tomorrow.
When Must You Seek Treatment?
Substance use disorders come in different types and sizes. However, there are some commonly recognizable signs that indicate you can benefit from comprehensive and personalized substance abuse treatment. Here are a few of those indicators:
- You have strong cravings and urges to use the substance.
- You use the substance more frequently and longer than you intend to.
- You have high tolerance levels for the substance, which means that you need to consume higher quantities of the substance to achieve the desired effect.
- You have lost interest in the things you previously enjoyed.
- You continue to use the substance despite its adverse physical and psychological effects.
- You continue to use the substance despite its effect on your career, interpersonal relationships, home life, and so on.
- You use the substance in high-risk conditions.
- You have tried to quit the substance on your own but have not been able to.
- You experience intensely unpleasant symptoms (known as withdrawal symptoms) when you reduce or stop using the substance.
If you experience these symptoms, it indicates that you can benefit from comprehensive substance abuse treatment. Remember, you do not have to go through this journey alone. Help is always available to you. You only need to reach out.

What Are the Levels of Care We Offer?

Our outpatient rehab program at Golden State Recovery takes a personalized, whole person approach where we blend structure and flexibility so that you can receive an intensive recovery experience without having to put your life on hold. Our dedicated team closely collaborates with you to craft personalized treatment plans so that our care meets all your unique needs and goals.
Here is a glimpse at the programs we offer:
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): Our PHPs are the most intensive programs we offer. You receive 6-8 hours of treatment each day, and our PHPs run for 5 days a week. During these scheduled hours, you receive traditional therapy, holistic therapy, medication management, life skills training, and social support, post which you can return to your home or a sober living residence.
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Our IOPs are the least restrictive programs we offer. You receive 3-5 hours of treatment (in the morning, afternoon, or evening) for 3 days every week. Like with PHP, you receive traditional therapy, holistic therapy, medication management, life skills training, and social support during these scheduled hours, and you can return to your home or a sober living residence afterward.
- Aftercare: As you begin to recover, you transition to aftercare, which is specifically designed for your unique needs and goals. Your aftercare plan will involve ongoing therapy/counseling, relapse prevention, 12-step recovery meetings (like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings), medication management, and case management services, among others.
- Sober Living: Sober living facilities are apartments or homes that offer you a substance-free, structured environment as you transition to independent living after rehab. You share these facilities with other residents who share the same aim of sobriety, and you can find a sense of belonging and community as you rebuild your life brick by brick.
While we do not offer sober living services at Golden State Recovery, we have active collaborations with many such facilities so that you can choose one that fits your needs and preferences.
